Dental Sealants

As your child continues to improve upon their brushing habits, you may find that added protection along their molars and premolars is helpful. Since these teeth are often difficult to clean for tiny hands, dental sealants can provide a layer of protection against decay and other harmful bacteria. When applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth, your child can expect to feel more confident when eating, drinking, and even cleaning their teeth.

Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards

No matter what sports your child enjoys playing, having the right kind of mouth protection is essential. Designed based on the specifications of your child’s smile, we can craft a mouthpiece that will feel comfortable and provide maximum protection against sudden hits or falls. Whether it’s a contact sport they like to play or engaging in solo activities, a mouthguard can safeguard teeth and gums from the start of the game to the end.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

Children’s teeth are often prone to cavities, which is why it’s important to have a type of treatment that doesn’t induce a fearful experience. While some children are not yet ready for tooth-colored fillings, we can incorporate silver diamine fluoride. Applying it to the decayed tooth, the silver will help to stop the spread of decay and kill off existing bacteria, while the fluoride remineralizes the tooth and safeguards it from future reinfection.

Pulp Treatment

Pulp therapy is a type of restorative dentistry treatment that is used solely for children who complain of intense tooth pain. Although not all instances require pulp therapy, we may find that an infection exists deep within the tooth and must be treated to eliminate the pain and worsening oral health symptoms. A customized crown can then be placed on top for optimal protection during healing.

Non-Nutritive Oral Habits

You may find it cute when your baby or toddler reaches for their favorite pacifier to soothe themselves; however, this common practice can have devastating effects on children’s oral health. The same can be said for thumb- or finger-sucking. If facial elongation, excessive overbites, or gapped teeth are to be avoided, our team can offer helpful non-nutritive tips to curb these habits for good.
